Saint-Petersburg – history starts here…

In information technology century greeting card is almost the only one way to let you feel real emotions. Postcard bears the cultural heritage, reflects the time and allows you to see what is happening from third side…

It is pleasure to recognize that nowadays there are lots of organizations supporting greeting cards production, developing philocarty direction.

As an example there is a St. Petersburg Club of greeting cards history (SPbKLIO), which was founded in 2004. The aim of the Club is to promote and support all types of collecting and using cards. PbKLIO activities is aimed to save and to promote the cultural heritage in philocarty direction as an integral part of the history, geography, culture, museum, ethnographic and other sciences. SPbKLIO holds regular meetings, conferences, members of the Club participate in exhibitions and to publish their work.

Besides there is a postcards Museum in St. Petersburg established in 2002, it has around half of a million copies. The first contribution to the exposure was made by Elena Romadanovsky, who sent 17 thousand cards to the National Library of Russia. The museum presents exhibits that were released in the pre-revolutionary years, as well as the author's cards artists. In 2012, the Assembly decided to digitize postcards of the St. Petersburg museum. When digitization is to be completed, all the cards from the museum collection will be posted on the portal of the Presidential Library of the first Russian President Boris Yeltsin.

The remarkable fact – in Russia about more than 3 million cards were sent in 2015, thanks to the postcrossing project and statistics steadily growing ....
